About the expert
I've been in the IT industry for 27 years, from working in electronics engineering at Delarue through to senior management roles and directorships in Dalgety plc and Vitec Group plc. Since 1998 I have run a business providing online services to financial institutions, pharmaceuticals and many small companies and start-ups. For me SMEs and start-ups are the most rewarding, as change is implemented by people with passion.
My decade-long passion is Open Source Software (OSS) which offers unique benefits to businesses. It's an approach to creating software that best aligns users with developers. With ten years active involvement using, supporting and helping OSS projects I have a long-term perspective that's not just limited to the technology. With security, transparency and open standards so important with our dependence on digital communications, only OSS seems able to meet that challenge in a way that delivers what business really needs.
