£2,000 cash prize offered to innovative and sustainable small firms

Outstanding small businesses are being called on to compete for six £2,000 cash prizes, following the launch of the Nectar Business Small Business Awards.

Any start-up or small firm that can demonstrate an innovative and sustainable business idea is eligible to enter the awards. The judging panel includes BBC series The Apprentice interviewer, Karren Brady.

There are six categories:

  • Small Business of the Year
  • Business Achiever of the Year
  • Best Use of Technology
  • Innovation of the Year
  • International Trader of the Year
  • Contribution to the Community Award

Firms can download an application form from the Nectar Business website. They will need to submit details about their funding, ownership and financial projections, as well as explaining what makes their business stand out, how they have achieved their targets, and what their objectives are.

Apart from the cash prizes, winners will also receive 50,000 Nectar points.

“The awards recognise hard-working entrepreneurs and small businesses throughout the UK who work tirelessly to make their business a success,” said Brady. “Small businesses are the driving force behind the economy.”

The deadline for entries is 31 May.
