The National Federation of Enterprise Agencies (NFEA) has been rebranded and will now be known as the National Enterprise Network (NEN). The organisation said the move is a result of “significant change” in the enterprise sector, which “led NFEA to consider its position as the only remaining national enterprise support organisation”.
NEN is the membership body for organisations committed to supporting and developing enterprise. Its members include enterprise agencies, chambers of commerce, local authorities, universities, large businesses and others that provide independent and impartial advice, training and mentoring to new and emerging businesses.
NEN chairman Doug Scott said: “As NFEA, we worked alongside our enterprise agency members for nearly 20 years. However, the landscape has changed significantly. The new name and brand more clearly defines our role and demonstrates the significant position we hold within the enterprise sector.”
The organisation says its ethos, aims and objectives will remain the same as the NFEA’s – “working hard to represent its members and to partner with external stakeholders in the support and development of enterprise across the country”.
Key activities include “representing the sector with key stakeholders in central government, official agencies and the private sector, providing unique products and services to members and managing national business support contracts”.
NEN CEO Dawn Whiteley commented: “With our new name and brand, we’ll be speaking with a louder and stronger voice to represent the interests of enterprise across the country, working alongside our membership.
“Our membership proposition will widen in the coming months, enabling a diverse cross section of individuals and organisations to join, if involved in the promotion and support of enterprise.”
