Online tools help firms comply with environmental laws

Small firms can quickly check they are complying with their environmental obligations, following the launch of a series of free online tools by Business Link.

Six web tools have been launched to help small businesses assess if they are meeting environmental obligations for hazardous substances, emissions to air, equipment, packaging, water use and waste.

Each tool takes the user through a series of questions about their business. Their answers will generate a report containing relevant environmental guidance – including advice on permits and licences a business may need.

According to Business Link, the tools will help small firms observe environmental legislation, assist them in avoiding prosecution and fines, and help them save money by using their resources more efficiently.
